1. Basic Definition
VHB™ is a registered trademark of 3M, standing for Very High Bond. In the industry, all-in-one closed-cell acrylic foam double-sided adhesive tapes are generally referred to as VHB tapes. Featuring an integrated structure of acrylic core and adhesive layer rather than ordinary foam substrates with glued surfaces, VHB tape is a viscoelastic structural double-sided tape with high bonding strength, capable of replacing rivets, screws and welding for fixed assembly.
Distinction: Ordinary PE/EVA foam double-sided tapes are not equivalent to VHB tapes. Conventional foam tapes adopt a separate substrate and adhesive coating structure, with significant gaps in bonding strength, weather resistance and waterproof performance.

- Superior Weather Resistance It resists UV rays, moisture and salt spray. The long-term operating temperature ranges from-40℃ to 90℃, and some high-temperature resistant models can withstand 150~230℃ for a short time, making it suitable for long-term outdoor application.
- Vibration Damping & Deformation Buffering The viscoelastic property absorbs vibration and compensates for thermal expansion and contraction differences between dissimilar materials. It also isolates different metals to prevent galvanic corrosion.
- Convenient Construction As a pressure-sensitive adhesive, it requires no curing time. No drilling or welding is needed, enabling flat, traceless and aesthetic bonding results.

- Grey (Most Universal): 5608GF, 5952, 5962, ideal for metal surfaces, signage and automotive exterior decoration
- Clear: 4905, 4910, perfect for glass, acrylic and transparent panels

5. Model Selection Guide (Classic 3M Models)
- 5608GF (0.8mm Grey): Universal cost-effective model, suitable for metals and high-surface-energy plastics
- 5952 (1.1mm Grey) / 5962 (1.6mm Grey): Excellent gap-filling performance, applicable for heavy-duty outdoor bonding scenarios
- 4905 (0.5mm) / 4910 (1.0mm) Clear VHB: Specially designed for glass and transparent acrylic bonding
- LSE Series: Customized for hard-to-bond low-surface-energy plastics such as PP and PE
6. Key Application Notes (Important)
- Keep the bonding surface clean and dry: Wipe with alcohol to remove oil and dust to avoid peeling off;
- Optimal construction temperature: 15~30℃. Initial adhesion will decrease significantly in low-temperature environments;
- Roll firmly after lamination to ensure the tape fully wets the bonding surface;
- Maximum bonding strength is achieved after 72 hours. Do not apply heavy load immediately after installation;
- Not suitable for long-term immersion in strong solvents or gasoline;
- For smooth PP and PE plastic surfaces, prioritize LSE low-surface-energy series tapes, as ordinary VHB tapes are prone to peeling.
